The 2 wills shown directly below, those of Mary Wilson & her husband Robert, have been analysed in detail.
Subsequent to these analyses, I started exploring The National Probate Calendar (NPC)in March 2007. The NPC is a listing from 1858 to current day, which gives basic information about any will proved in England. Many County Record Offices have a microfiches of the listings, but normally only up to the 1940's. I have been conducting my exploration of the NPC at the County Record Office at Chester, where the index goes up to 1943. For later dates, one must travel to London to view the information.
From 1858 to 1968, the following information is normally available:
(a) Full name & address of deceased (possibly their occupation)
(b) Full name of Executor(s) or Administration (address up to 1892)
(c) Relationship to deceased up to 1892
(d) Date & place of death
(e) Value of estate
(f) For women, marital status with husband & name
After 1968, only data items (a),(d),(e) & (f) are included in the NPC.
In 1880, the building of the Catholic Primary School was completed in Whitby.
This was funded by donation from Mrs Robert Wilson (Mary Stanger) of 2 sums of monies from her husband Robert's will.
Transcripts of the receipts are shown below
